Planning update

The planning decision has been delayed until Thursday 14 August. Meanwhile, our opposition to the stadium continues, helped by Cherwell District Council’s report which concluded that the Triangle is Green Belt and not grey belt as asserted by OUFC.

This means the club will have to meet the high bar of proving Very Special Circumstances (VSC) in order to develop the site.

One of OUFC’s key justifications for building on the Green Belt is its claims that a new stadium will make the club financially sustainable and ensure its survival.

This bold statement was unevidenced! But as a result of pressure from FoSB, OUFC reluctantly and eventually prepared a financial summary, albeit containing very little financial information. We can state categorically, using the club’s own figures, that OUFC has not demonstrated that a new stadium will make the club financially sustainable!

Transport and traffic are key issues for local residents. Kidlington Parish Council shares our serious concerns regarding the impact of the stadium on the transport network and has strong reservations about Oxfordshire County Council Highways Department’s assessment.

As such, we are very pleased that the Parish Council commissioned Mayer Brown to assess properly this matter on behalf of residents and enable their findings to be submitted to CDC.
