We are pleased to announce that our claim for a judicial review of Cherwell District Council’s decision to grant planning permission for a new stadium for Oxford United was filed with the High
Court on 9 April 2026. This is the culmination of four years of work and the enduring support of our generous and committed supporters. We are mindful of the fact that judicial review is an
uphill battle but believe the potential impact on biodiversity including the woodland, which our ecologist believes is ancient woodland, and on our local community make this a battle worth fighting.
Cherwell District Council’s lawyers will now prepare their defence and our lawyers will follow with a reply. The court will then decide whether we need to have an oral permission hearing to
see if our claim can proceed to the next stage. This may take a few months.
